Control Circuit Designer with Safety Functions and PL

Agenda

• Assessment of the risks present on the machine in accordance with EN ISO 12100:2010;
• Identification of the safety functions and control circuits that perform safety functions (electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic circuits, etc.);
• Determination of the PLr for each safety function;
• Estimation of the performance level (PL), possibly using the most widely used software (Sistema and Pascal) and comparison with the required performance level (PLr);
• If the PL should prove to be inadequate, i.e. lower than the PLr, identification, in collaboration with the designers, of the solutions that can be adopted to increase the performance level (e.g. by modifying the structure of the control circuit or choosing more reliable components);
• Verification of the fulfilment of requirements for software performing safety functions;
• Validation of control circuits with safety functions, in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1:2016 and EN ISO 13849-2:2013. Validation can be carried out by means of theoretical analysis or by performing failure tests;
• Validation of software with safety functions, in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1:2016 and EN ISO 13849-2:2013. Validation can be carried out by theoretical analysis or by performing failure tests.

Duration

The duration of this course may vary depending on the in-depth study desired. The choice depends on the participants’ needs and current vs. intended level of expertise. Both options clearly have value, but the longer one allows the topic to be explored in more detail, with a more practical approach as well.
